As you probably know, there has been a lot of attention - and controversy - around the whole topic of vaccines and their potential negative effects on health.
And there are powerful groups with vested interests that push the agenda that vaccines are harmless and really important for preventing serious disease states. (the pharmaceutical industry, the medical profession etc.)
One very brave Medical Doctor - Dr. Andrew Wakefield has done a lot to provide evidence that it is quite possible that one of the common vaccines which almost everyone receives (MMR - Measles, Mumps, Rubella) may in fact cause autism issues - and that it warrants further research.
Dr. Wakefield is a gastroenterologist (gut / G.I. Specialist) who published a paper back in 1995 in The Lancet, the prominent mainstream British medical journal indicating that he had direct experience dealing with some children whom he felt had developed austism issues as a result of this common vaccination.
The backlash was immediately fierce and significant: what ended up happening is his professional reputation was called into question, he lost his medical license and he ended up having to leave Britain.
I have followed this controversy for a number of years, and I must admit that even I was confused about the truth behind it, because the spin doctors trying to discredit him have been very convincing.
With some of the recent documentation that has hit the media I am firmly convinced that his position is not only plausible - but probable.
And one of the issues these days is our general health faces a lot more stresses than years ago: poor food, lack of sleep, depleted soils, exposure to toxins etc. So as a result, we have a lot less resilience to handle additional sources of stress (which vaccines could be).
The other factor that you may not be aware of is that we all have many genetic mutations and for those of us that have some specific mutations our reserves / resilience is much less robust making us much more susceptible to some of these stressors.
(As an aside, this whole area of mutations, identifying them and being able to take steps in our diet, supplements etc.) will be a big part of future individualized medicine in the years to come: the Naturopathic profession is starting to get into this as well as Functional Medicine Doctors, but for mainstream Medical Doctors they are probably 5 - 10 years away from incorporating this into their practices: because to do so, they would have to start practicing medicine with an integrative approach!)

In my opinion, we should all be skeptical about vaccinations these days, and potential side effects.
It is a landmine of a topic filled with controversy, with very strong proponents on both sides of the argument: however there is no black and white answer and it is very much an individual choice as to whether you personally think you individually and your family members should opt for receiving vaccines (and there is a lot of pressure to do so) -
or to opt out because of concerns with negative side effects.
(And certainly one consideration would be to get this genomic testing done to see if you or your family members might have some mutations which may make you susceptible to some of the documented negative side effects of vaccines)
